This blog missed out on the terrorism threat we have just been thru in November 2007. We had police bashing down the doors of residences in Wellington and elsewhere, NINJAS all in their favourite colour black invading the placid Ruatoki valley right in the heart of the Tuhoe Nation and the Lambert whanau in Manurewa where they held up a 12 year old girl at gun point and even trained their infra red gun sights on her and her Grandma and mother. This is not the start of a fictitious story. It happens to be true. The media huha that followed was something wondrous to behold. They clearly leaned towards public opinion which supported the NINJAS or at least wanted to 'wait and see' the evidence. When the Solicitor General decided that there was insufficient evidence to support terrorism charges the 'taihoas' refused to believe it and then fed on the hearsay fed in dribs by the media. The Dom-Post which happens to be Aussie owned by the Fairfax media moguls reported some leaked drivel from police 'evidence' which happens to be subjudice. They were threatened with Court action but don't hold your breath. They'll get away with it. The rich usually do. So this has been a great month where fiction has been stranger than more fiction. Tame Iti and his mates in the meantime await arms charges and have to button up their ngutus. So much for the 'public's right to know. That's also a privilege of the rich.
